Beef stew with Anise and Basil

The Vietnamese apparently prize this dish for breakfast -- we prize it for lunch and dinner.

Fruit pickin'

Today, we went a-fruit-pickin' (or is it fruit-a-pickin'?)

We picked berries of the blue variety...

and of the rasp variety:

Then we went cherry picking like the Bush administration. We didn't cherry pick the intelligence; we actually cherry picked cherries.

Upon returning home, we made dinner.

Anke chops a mean basil.

... but looks very sweet when making dessert.

Heisse liebe (cold).

BBQ with the Emmanuel

Potato salad. Recipe straight from Frans's head.

Innocent little lambs were slaughtered just to provide us with these burgers. They did not die in vain: we used our Portuguese wonder sauce (Ercilia's salsa de citron) to make them very tasty.

Camping in the Catskills, the sequel

Tilapia.

Sausage. With fat dripping (look below the second sausage). Tasty!

Camping again; forgot the camera on the hike. You guys missed some great views.

Pancakes!

After returning home from our camping adventures, we had pancakes. Frans was feeling adventurous still, and filled them with a mix of vegetables, home-smoked pork and home-made barbecue sauce.

Camping in the Catskills

Last weekend we went camping in the Catskills. On Friday we burnt some chicken breasts on our campfire.

The next day we hiked up Slide Mountain, and then for unknown reasons we proceeded to go down the very steep slope on the other side (once at the bottom we turned back again, to go back up the mountain, down the other side, and back to Gete).

These stairs were obviously easy, but it got quite difficult when there was a 10 (according to our guide book) meter high vertical rock to get down (and back up...).

The campfired trout that evening was not burnt and extremely good.

July 11th

Contrary to what the lack of posts may lead you to believe, on July 11th, we actually did eat. We had Kuey Teow noodles again.
