Followed by butternut squash soup.



By the time of the main course, we were already quite satisfied. But we managed to still find a bit of room in our stomachs for sirloin steak with a red wine reduction.

Christmas dinner accomplished. Time to go back to grading.

As I am sure all guidebooks mention these days: When traveling, it is very important to coordinate the color of your outfit with your iPad cover.




After the beach at Xcalak (where we spent no time at all) we headed for the Mayan ruins further south.



We fulfilled our tourist obligations by posing for photos with ruins in the background, as well as taking numerous photos of said ruins.

We especially like this upperclass living complex called the 27-steps. I sure hope they had an elevator in those days. Imagine lugging your groceries up those stairs...

Blah blah blah Yada yada yada. I am sure there are some very interesting facts about this old sculpture that I forgot. You will just have to enjoy the fact that it is beautiful and well-preserved.

We spent the day being amused in amusement park Happy Valley.

Scary kittens that we are, we did not take all the rides.

Easter breakfast

Today, we are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. Or, maybe, we are celebrating spring. Or we are celebrating the fact that F's paper finally got accepted to a good conference.

But, most of all, we are celebrating the fact that A got two job offers! Huzzah!!!

And, what better way to celebrate our imminent move to another continent, than to buy some egg cloches to schlepp across the globe with us?

Advice Followed

We followed Ellen's great advice and fired up the barbecue for the first time this year for some great ribs and wonderful sweet potatoes!





We can tell that spring has really sprung here by the fact that Eis Paul's truck is ringing its bell every evening in our street again.

Feelings Are Slippery

Sanne and Wanching came to visit Beijing, so it was time to visit 798 yet again. Here are some impressions:







As usual, UCCA had a very interesting installation. This is called Feelings Are Facts:







It consisted of a large space filled with mist and lighted in these beautiful colors.





A better name may have been "Feelings Are Slippery", as the floor was very slippery and the space was not level (by design). A came out with sticky jeans, because she ventured too far into the world of art.
