Spazzing out on the Mittlere Guslar Spitze

Spazzer and Sheep

Our next day was a hike of only 1 hour. To make it a little more interesting we extended the hike to also include a summit: the Mittlere Guslar Spitze.

The snow made the road a little slippery and descending F fell and hurt his hand. It was not a major wound or anything, but somehow it was enough to trigger a small epileptic fit. There he was: lying on a steep mountain, spazzing out. Who does not like to spend his holidays like that?

Anyway, after a little while, the ringing in his ears stopped, and we could continue, albeit a little shakily. Then came the next surprise:

Bartgeier

Bartgeier

Four humongous birds of prey (probably a bartgeier) came up from out of nowhere. These things seemed to have a wingspan of more than two meters --- it was quite an impressive sight!

Luckily it was just a small descend to the Hochjoch-Hospiz, where we had Leberkäse mit Ei for lunch, and Spaghetti Bolognese for dinner.

Visitors from China

Saarbrücken
Amanda and Liuke are visiting us!

Fleischkäse
They are awesome guests, because they like every kind of food, even Fleischkäse.

We tried to show them the sights around here, but of course, there are none. So instead, here is a picture of Anke, the pide we had for lunch and a nest of swallows.

Fair and Balanced --- Video Edition

Anke is on facebook, and can even check it now that we are not behind the Great Firewall of China any more. So here is a treat from Tuncay's wall, combining two of my favorite things: cats and singing adolescent boys.

And to show that we are still aware of how to be good, moderate, fair and balanced people, here is a video to balance the previous vid:

Then some random pictures from our brunch yesterday at the Ratskeller.

It was rather dark, and I didn't bring the good camera, so the pictures of the Abgebräunter Fleischkäs mit Ei and the Kässpatzen are not really post-worthy.

Meatfest Friday

Meat Fest @ Paulaner Brauhaus

We're trying to regain the 2 kilos both of us lost in the last two weeks. For A this is actually necessary, as she is getting a bit too thin. F on the other hand might just as well shed a few more kilos.

Also, salad:

Still Very Excited...

... about possibly going to Germany. Here is us preparing ourselves:

I guess we are not fully German yet, as we only ordered 1 main course and 1 dessert. But we still have time!

Saturday ritual

We pissed away another Saturday at Cafe Konstanz.

We started off with a Semmel with Leberkäse, two sausages, Weißwurst, pretzel and lots of bread. And of course two beers. Who knew that we really missed Germany all those years in the U.S.?

A few hours later, we were ready for the second course:

Grandma's German cheese cake

and a raspberry cream cake

We don't like Cafe Konstanz's coffee, so we had Glühwein instead.
