Fireworks!

We finally made it this year to the Grand Illumination event at Colonial Williamsburg.

As you can see, there were fireworks...

... and a huge crowd.

To be honest, I thought the event we went to two years ago (which we mistakenly thought was the Grand Illumination event at the time) was more special.

We have been working on converting the workshop in our basement into a rec center.



One wall has been turned into a poppy field.



Next project on the list is repainting the floor (which, as you can see, is sorely needed)

It used to be historic...

... now it is hysteric, according to a neighbor.

Nonetheless, we think the Christmas wreaths in Colonial Williamsburg are particularly charming this year.

Kudos to the husband, who took these beautiful photos with his new cheapo lens that he bought in anticipation of our Mexico trip this winter.

Kudos also to the makers of these wreaths. I feel somewhat inspired to make a wreath with chalk, red pens and other tools of my trade, but who knows whether I will get to it this year. If not, maybe next year...

We managed to keep convincing the lady from the Humane Society that the cats are sick and that they should hence stay with us for longer. So another Caturday it is!



We also promised Lies some photos of the few late blooms in our garden:





It has been the most beautiful of falls here, but now the leaves are really starting to fall. Next weekend we'll get to start bagging leaves again. Sigh...

They're back! April and Leslie have not been adopted yet, and some virus is making the rounds at the Humane Society. We are providing them shelter (and trying to make them better again).

Hiking the Alps -- It Can Be Hard Work!!

After my last post, I am sure y'all are thinking that this "hiking" we do is just an excuse for lots of beer and eating. And you would not be wrong.





Still, it can actually be quite hard work to haul the old body up the mountain.





But it is quite exhilirating when you get there!

Some pieces of cake either before or after the hearty delicious foodz, but most likely both before and after. There is no hiking for 6-7 hours a day without gaining a couple of pounds!!



Hold on, you say. Six or seven hours a day only! But what do you do the remaining 17-18 hours?!







Do you even need to ask?? we drink beer, read our kindles, and when we get bored, there is always...
