Quanjude

But no duck! Duck tongue in aspic does not count, of course.

Duck Tongue in Aspic

Eggplant and other stuff (if I remember correctly pork and salt fish).

Eggplant

An evergreen: Tuna, salmon and wasabi mustard.

Finally: Da Dong

We finally went to Da Dong Roast Duck restaurant two days ago. We had been looking forward to Da Dong for a while, since it keeps winning the prize for best Beijing duck in Beijing.

The foodz were very fancy and quite tasty.

duck liver

barbecued eel with lemon

duck hearts

Sichuan chicken with passion fruit mousse

braised eggplant

and of course what we all came for:the non-leftover parts of the duck!

To be absolutely honest, we were a little bit disappointed. The duck was not greasy, which may be seen as a good thing, but to us it seemed a bit dry and not as yummy and moist as it should be. Also, it somehow tasted a bit like popcorn...

We're still debating whether maybe we got a bad duck and we should try them again if everyone thinks Da Dong's duck is so great. But then again, maybe the rest of the world just has no taste (which is definitely the explanation that Frans is leaning to).

Nonetheless, it was a nice meal, with free desserts (not pictured) and of course free fruit at the end.
