Patriotic
Making money is patriotic in the US...

Disappointing
On our last day in New York we went to have breakfast at Bouley Market. We had quiche and a croissant with egg:

Here's a picture of the whole table to illustrate the awkwardness, shitty paper napkins combined with heavy silver silverware:
The whole experience was wholly disappointing: the food was okay, but certainly not great, the service awkward, as well as the whole setting.

momofuku
New York is great for lunch. Yet another amazing restaurant: momofuku noodle bar.
We had soy sauce egg
7 spice potato chips
bouchot mussels – miso garlic sausage, black kale, fennel
roasted skate wing – brussels sprouts, kimchi, bacon
and even dessert --- cousin leroy & arlo’s soft serve ice cream – twist of quince and smoked maple

Fatty Crab
... or how Fodor's never disappoints. Looking for something special, we looked at Fodor's choice for New York restaurants. Among other restaurants, they recommend Fatty Crab, and we second this choice wholeheartedly.
A really tasty Malay Fish Fry:

Other great dishes we had (from top to bottom): Skate Panggang, Coconut Rice, Chinese Broccoli with Salted Fish and Watermelon Pickle and Crispy Pork.

Blaue Gans
Emmanuel proposed Blaue Gans for some real Austrian food. As it turns out, we have been to one of Kurt Gutenbrunner's other restaurants in NYC, Wallse, a few years ago. The food at Blaue Gans was less highbrow (more towards gutbürgerliche Küche, but that is definitely not a good description of the wonderful food here), which I strongly prefer.
We shared these great appetizers. Blood sausage (with wasabi):
Spätzle:
Trout pancake torte (or something):
Artichokes:
The various main courses. First of all, pheasant with foie gras and Brussels sprouts:
Boiled shank of some sort:
Some sort of schnitzel (Jäger-?):
We ended this decadent evening in style at the Brandy Library.
Definitely more reasons to go (back) to New York.

Ethiopean
Another day, another lunch.

I guess we know better restaurants in NYC than Howard Karloff, on whose advise we came to this restaurant.

Duck! (or Le Marais)
If you are wondering why we went to NYC, this is one reason: Le Marais.
We know and love their steak tartare (apologies for the crappy picture):
It turns out that they also make a mean duck, Canard au Citron:
Mission Lunch: accomplished.
