As promised, here then the art we bought in Shanghai.

Shanghai Culture

After the Henkfesten at Tongji University, we dropped Wim & Rietje at the airport and headed into town to soak up some culture: in celebration of Henk's professorship Tongji treated him (and us, by virtue of being there too) to tickets to a concert.

We had heard that Shanghai people are more cultured, and we had high hopes that we might listen to music, instead of incessant coughing, talking, talking on the phone et cetera, that we are used to in Beijing.

Well, let's just say that the concert hall was beautiful.





The day after was already our last day in Shanghai. We had a Western brunch, and then went to Shanghai's equivalent of 798, Moganshan. It turns out that Shanghai does have culture!







We even bought some art for our still somewhat empty walls in our apartment. Soon to be admired on this blog!

Wim & Rietje 3: Shanghai

After a few days of doing actual work, we headed to the airport, because Henk was to become a visiting professor at Tongji University in Shanghai.

We did some of the usual sights. Here are two views from the Pearl Tower:
