What have we done!

We miss Mr Bojangles!

Today, at 18:30, Mr Bojangles felt something was up, and decided to hide under the couch. At 18:35, the couch was turned upside down, and Mr Bojangles hid in his litter box instead. The poor little thing!
From there, we managed to force him into his transporter, and at 19:00 his new family picked him up.

And we are left feeling really sad and lonely.

Saying goodbye to Mister Bojangles

Spring means that new things come and old things go. We are saying goodbye to many things this week: today we are sending off Mr Bojangles to his new home, with garden.

After our most recent trip to Berlin, Mr Bojangles has become even sweeter than before. He now throws himself on the sofa several times a day, and demands to be petted by F. When he is not doing that, he walks around F's chair with quivering tail, demanding to be petted. Last night, he even graced us with his presence during the night, and slept on our bed.

Our job in taming Mr Bojangles is clearly done.

Bread, Chicken, Dessert and Baby

Bread

Yesterday we had guests for dinner, so we tried to impress them with homemade bread with olives and sun dried tomatoes, together with chicken in yoghurt marinade (no pic). And we went all out by even making dessert: dried apricots filled with almond paste with orange flower water in puff pastry, sprinkled with a little of Christiaan's awesome honey.

Dessert

Easy to make, goes great with espresso, highly recommended.

But the most interesting thing about the evening was the way Mr. Bojangles reacted to the 6 month old baby: he came out of his usual hiding place under the couch, and studied the baby with intense interest. It was very cute.

Mr. Bojangles

Fail

We know we were negligent in posting pictures of Mr. Bojangles, therefore two treats today.

We also ate. Being inspired by going to France, we made reblochonade.

Cunday

Paw

Otherwise known as a late Caturday.

Sleeping

We'll also give away the answer to last week's quiz. The correct answer is that Mister Bojangles is so terrified of the vacuum cleaner that he will become completely unresponsive, and will not even run away anymore.
We did not have the heart to vacuum clean again this weekend, so I guess Ellen will have to add "try not to be bothered by the filthy state of Team Franke's apartment" to her list of mental preparations for her visit this week.

We have not yet used the item that was the topic of our third quiz yet, because it is such a bitch to cut. So please leave your responses to what these coming days will be eating we? in the comments. It is not yeast, we can say that much...

Looking for Answers...

Black Cat Crossed My Path

Mr. Bojangles has not found the answers to our two pop quizes either, but he as you can see, he is actively looking for them.

Today we put some frozen salmon with leeks in puff pastry:

Eating well

Yesterday, we ran out of food, and, it being Sunday and us living in the old world, we could not run to the supermarket to buy some. So we made do with some dried fruits and couscous.

Couscous

Today, the duck we bought because we could not afford chicken (which, surprisingly, appears to be more expensive than duck in France), was a day over its use-by date. So we had overdue duck for dinner.

Duck

Sad stories indeed. Shopping malls closed on Sunday, chicken too expensive for our meager income, and duck past its due-by-date in its stead. But, oh, are we eating well nonetheless!

Finally, since we know that you are all very disappointed you did not win our "most-loyal-reader" award, here is another pop quiz: Why was Mr Bojangles so upset yesterday, that he froze into a completely unresponsive kitten-shaped log with huge eyes?

P.S. Recently, our food has really been much more delicious than normal. I just realized that this may be the reason why.

Saturday

Today is not caturday, because Mr. Bojangles has disappointed us. After listening to an 80s mix in a bar where we had a beer this afternoon, we decided to listen to some Boy George while cooking dinner. Mr. Bojangles was far from amused. He is normally very appreciative of music, but perhaps the 80s are not good enough for him. We did not know we had raised such a highbrow cat.

So no photo of Mr. Bojangles, who is hiding under the sofa. Instead, here is what we ate today - sucuk with peppers, tomato and eggs.

Note that Mr. Bojangles has really embraced his street look: he even has a tattoo!

Pad Thai

Also, Mr. Bojangles does not seem to like his food any more after I decided to make a blog post about it. We decided to splurge and get 55 cent cans, but he does not really want to eat these either.

Back by Popular Demand

Black Cat on Red

More pictures of our IKEA furniture! Mr. Bojangles was kind enough to model on top of red pillows, making this a special blog post for Adrie. He is sporting his "WTF is this camera doing in my face?"-look.

Black Cat on Red

Also, we had some surprisingly good Chinese food in a Chinese restaurant yesterday, with some Chinese coworkers of Anke, to celebrate Chinese New Year. Happy Spring Festival to all of y'all, especially the rabbits amongst you. I bet you are as anxious to put on your red underwear, as I am to finally take them off after a year.

Nuts! Walnuts to be precise!

Pesto with Walnuts

We finally made the pesto we have been meaning to make since we got the huge bag of walnuts from Adrie and Henk. We bought huge amounts of basil and mint, and used walnuts instead of pine nuts. The result was awesome.

Also we had some dessert, which was decent.

Waffle with Cherries and Cream

Finally, since nobody is complaining yet, more pictures of Mr. Bojangles.

Red, Black and White

Red, Black and White

Feel free to let us know that you're sick of seeing his cute face on the blog. We will then proceed and bring him back to the Tierheim, where he will be unhappy and refuse to eat.

What Today Ate Mr. Bojangles

Cat Food

At the request of HTGYG here is Mr. Bojangles' favorite food: smelly salmon and stinky tuna with undefined yellowy grossness on top. We alternate this with putrid poultry and vegetables, which mostly seem to consist of chickpeas.

And as an added bonus: What With Today Played Mr. Bojangles:

Green Cat Toy

He actually plays fetch sometimes, pretending that he accidentally pushed the ball in my direction.

Mr. Bojangles is mister no more. We took him to the vet, to have his junk removed. We are feeling pretty guilty now.
