Pasta and Eggplant

On two separate days, that is. Yesterday the evergreen pasta with fennel and arugula, thanks to Ellen for the recipe, and the day before...



... karnıyarık, the taste of which I really love, but the looks of which gives me a split belly --- it is so hard to make a decent picture of this eggplant.

Pasta, Fennel, Arugula

Hamburguesa

With blue cheese and arugula. And sweet and normal potato fries. And mayonnaise. Yum.

Flammkuchen and More Pizza

This Flammkuchen came out extremely well. Maybe because I used rapeseed oil to make the dough.



It also worked really well for making pizza. One side of the pizza contained anchovy, onion, pepper, capers and mozzarella, the other side onion, smoked ham, mozzarella and arugula.



We also made Ghillie's mango and carrot dish.



And from recipes we got from Ellen, we chose this pasta with fennel and arugula.

Not always successful

Just in case y'all are feeling like we always make the most wonderful foodz and we rock like no one else in the world, we can tell you that in fact, sometimes our food does not work out the way we hope it will.



Like today's pad thai, in which we boldly substituted shrimps for chicken breast and arugula for watercress. Edible for sure, but not one of our finer creations.

Biking

I took advantage of the great weather yesterday, and went for a bike ride.

I think you are supposed to eat pasta before biking, but somehow the order was reversed yesterday.

Foodz

Yesterday meatless pasta with fennel and arugula. Today meatballs a.k.a. kefta:

Back from the flu' -- part II

Another one from the time when Frans had the flu'. Looks good, eh? I am proud. I can cook after all.

Veggies

Wegmans was out of arugula, so we used mache instead. And we bought organic sour cream for the first time, which is so much better than the usual stuff!

Pizza

Because some of us had built up a feta aversion, and hardly any restaurant was open because of a heavy snow storm, we had authentic Bulgarian pizza on our last night.

All of y'all know this one!

Either by giving us the recipe (thanks Ellen!) or trying to force it down your throat at our place.

I dare say there's no gula like arugula.

Protest food

In protest to Anke's treatment at the airport, I made pork.


And I put a fly in the frying oil.

I regretted that later on, though.
