I think this is not a big thing in other countries, but it is in the Netherlands: today is our 12.5th wedding anniversary! We celebrated by making selfies.

Thursday Offal Day! (updated)
It turns out that it is Thursday instead of Sunday offal day here in China. I think it has something to do with the time difference.
Yesterday we made one of our favorite offal dishes: chicken livers with preserved lemon and orange flower water. We made the preserved lemon ages ago, and Ellen has kindly delivered some orange flower water from the Netherlands.
Our new kitchen is so much more convenient than the old one! Look how much room we have:

Our food did not turn out very beautiful unfortunately, but it was quite tasty. According to Frans, the chickens here must be much healthier than over in the U.S. as they don't have those weird soft and porous livers (gross!)
(again, pictures will be added here soon we hope. Stupid firewall! We hope that the fact that the anniversary (of the Tiananmen massacre, not of our blog) is behind us now means that they will relax the firewall a bit again.)

Sea of Urine --- the movie
Today we went to pay for our new apartment: 3 months of rent plus 1 month of rent as deposit. This is what (almost) 3 months of rent looks like:

Then finally, we made this little movie walking from our bikes to the elevator. It almost seems like a sweet (but very stinky) memory already...

Special Anniversary Edition
We got married 6 years ago! To mark this joyous occasion we had...
... some really bad food. (The contrast with the food we had in Kaatje 6 years ago could hardly be starker.)
We were glad when we crossed the dateline, making this our shortest anniversary ever (whp).

Star Fish and Coffee
On Sunday evening, to celebrate our 300th blog post, we went to the Donghuamen Night Market with the Kreutzer brothers, whom we met on our hike last weekend.
Anke got started right away, and ordered a star fish at the very first stall.
Yum-0. The Kreutzers had some squid-on-a-stick, which I suspect was a lot better.
But then we got to the good things: scorpions!
Surprisingly, scorpions really are not too bad, and so we all had some.
Anke got carried away by the success of the scorpions, and ordered some silk worm. Still smiling when she gets it:
Hmmm, what do I think of this???
Nope. Not so great.
After this, it was just lookie-lookie.
The testicle selling guy was having a great time touting his wares.
Some other exciting thingies that we did not eat: sea horses and sea dogs (whatever they are.)
According to some other website, the long thing wound around a stick is a sheep penis.

Post #100!
It is post #100 again! This time the food for post #100 did work out very nicely, so we are very happy that blogger gave us a second chance (by counting a couple of drafts as posts).
As you know, Frans REALLY likes pancakes.

Celebration! It is post #100!
We had chicken satay, with Brasa-inspired grilled zucchini (Frans has much to learn), peanut sauce that separated, red pepper that tasted like Frans's grandpa, and french fries. The french fries were great, chicken was pretty good too.
